The Teachings of Ramana Maharshi
READ · February 2026 · Arthur Osborne
About the book
This book presents the core teachings of Ramana Maharshi, with emphasis on self-inquiry and the direct question: who am I.
I approached it as a contemplative text. Instead of reading continuously, I read in small segments and sat with each section before moving ahead.
My review
The strongest impact for me is its simplicity. The teaching is not ornamental, and that directness makes it both subtle and demanding.
I found the practical instruction of self-attention more valuable than abstract metaphysical debate. The book works best when read slowly and experientially.
This is a book I plan to revisit many times. Each reread feels less like collecting new information and more like refining inner clarity.
